VENEFIT PROCEDURES – ENGLISH
VENEFIT Pre-Procedure Instructions
- Eat a light meal the day of the procedure; the sedatives make some patients queasy
- Take the sedative pills an hour prior to the surgery
- For ladies, shave your legs like usual the day prior to the surgery
- Do not use cream, lotion, or sun block on your leg on the day of surgery
- For men, shave only the involved area of the leg if needed the day prior
- You must have someone drive you to AND from the procedure (due to the sedative)
- You must stop Aspirin, Plavix, Coumadin, Motrin, Advil & Ibuprofen five days prior to procedure (unless otherwise instructed). You may take Tylenol or Acetaminophen for pain
VENEFIT Post-Procedure Instructions
Bandage Instructions
- Following the procedure, your leg will be wrapped from your ankle to your thigh with a combination of ace bandage and compression stocking
- Keep the bandage on and dry until the morning of your post-op visit
- You may get creative with bathing/sponge-bathing, but it’s imperative that the bandage remains dry
- On occasion, the ace bandage loosens; if this occurs, you may re-wrap it
- On the morning of your post-op visit, remove the compression stocking and ace bandage
- There may be steri-strips (butterfly bandages); do not remove them
- Take a regular shower after removing the bandage. It is ok if some of the steri-strip bandages fall off on their own
- Do not put the ace bandage back on after the shower. You may reapply the stocking if you wish
- Come into our office for your post-op visit.
- Call the doctor if you have severe pain or shortness of breath
- Call the doctor if you have a temperature >101.0 F
- Do not take Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, or Aspirin (unless previously approved by the doctor) until after your post operative visit
- You may take Tylenol or Acetaminophen for pain
- Call the doctor on call for staining or drainage of blood of greater than a silver dollar in size
- No exercising until the post operative visit
